Mark Sinclair of PhatSheep Photography was commissioned by Shetland Amenity Trust to undertake a project depicting what the past, present and future of Hays Dock meant to him.
For this ‘Art on Site’ public art project Mark chose to take documentary photographs of the entire construction process of this dynamic new building right up to and immediately after it opened to the public. This contemporary visual archive of the build process spread over 22 separate visits took over 2 1/2 years to complete.
The architects involved were BDP, who designed the building and Nicolas Groves Raines, who led the restoration of the dock.
The final work was projected in the Shetland Museum and Archives auditorium as a continuous slide show as part of the 'Art on Site' opening exhibtion.
